Wilhelm Albert, Duke of Urach

Prince Wilhelm Albert Raphael Maria of Urach, Count of Württemberg, 5th Duke of Urach (German: Wilhelm Albert Fürst von Urach, Graf von Württemberg, Herzog von Urach; born on 9 August 1957) is the head of the morganatic Urach branch of the House of Württemberg.

Duke of Urach

Prince Wilhelm Albert was born in Hohenburg Castle, Bavaria, Germany the son of Prince Eberhard of Urach and Princess Iniga of Thurn and Taxis. He is a grandson of Wilhelm, Duke of Urach who was from 11 July 1918 to November 1918 the king-elect King Mindaugas II of Lithuania.[1]

Prince Wilhelm Albert succeeded his brother Karl Anselm as Duke of Urach after his brother renounced the title in 1991, due to his morganatic marriage.

He is described as an engineer who lives at Ossenberg Castle near Düsseldorf.[2] He also owns Lichtenstein Castle, south of Stuttgart, which is open to the public.[3]

Marriage and children

He married Karen von Brauchitsch, countess Berghe von Trips; the daughter of Konrad von Brauchitsch and wife Mariette Hermans, on 1 February 1992 in Rimburg, Germany. They have one son and two daughters:
